This area of Idaho sports several wild fruit trees, the most abundant being plums.
In the spring they offer a wonderful flower that dots the hillsides all over – its a beautiful dance of life!
We harvest our wild plums and make fruit leather out of them. I have found that if I can mix in a little grape with the plums the leather becomes softer and very tasty. The vitamin C content is very high giving it a tart and sour flavor so I don’t add any (or at least not much) sugar when making this leather. It’s usually all gone by mid winter and fall guests are certainly welcome to sample this if they like.
